DOOSAN Yonkang Foundation
DOOSAN Yonkang Foundation DOOSAN Yonkang Foundation was established in 1978 to carry on the educational aims of the DOOSAN Group’s inaugural chairman Yonkang Too-Pyung Park (1910–1973). With the objective of contributing to the advancement of social interests and culture, the foundation operates various support programs aimed at creating an environment for future generations and discovering and nurturing creative future talents. DOOSAN Art Center was opened in 2007 based on DOOSAN Yonkang Foundation’s philosophy of social contribution and belief in the value of culture and art. Focusing in particular on the performance and visual art genres, it has organized and presented over forty programs, including annual performances, exhibitions, lectures, and more at its Yonkang Hall, Space111, Studio DAC, and DOOSAN Gallery. In the process, it has supported young artists in different fields in their pursuit of original experiments and risk-taking. Studio DAC is a dedicated educational space that shares opportunities for knowledge and learning through educational programs of different scales and formats, which encompass the fields of culture, art, and the humanities.
Its major efforts include “DOOSAN Yonkang Academic support” which inspires young ambitious researchers in the medical field; “DOOSAN Yonkang Academic Awards”, which is intended to encourage ambition among researchers; scholarship programs to offer funds for talented students to focus on their studies; the “Overseas Academic Tour for Teachers” program to provide schoolteachers with opportunities for study in other countries; and “Book Donations” to provide books to elementary schools in remote areas in Korea. In this way, it has been working to promote basic education and contribute to the advancement of basic scholarship.
DOOSAN Yonkang Foundation’s social contributions have also been expanded to the realm of culture and art. The establishment of DOOSAN Art Center in 2007 has contributed to the discovery and support of young practitioners in the realms of performance and visual arts, while providing additional projects to promote high-quality culture and art.
